[Live from New Orleans.] Any thoughts? [Mar. 23rd, 2009|12:48 am]
Has anyone visited this place yet? By this place I'm referring to Chef
Austins. I'd like to know if it's good, seems like a good idea behind
it, but non-locals running a local food joint makes me suspicious. Then
again it is about the food.

[Live from New Orleans.] Bobby Jindal on 60 minutes [Mar. 1st, 2009|10:16 pm]
Did you all get a chance to watch Bobby Jindal on 60 minutes? If not
you can take a look at the transcript page here.Naturally I'm not just
posting this as some sort of proud moment for Louisiana. Although we
should at least smirk a little that we are now getting some attention.
But I'm really posting this as a perfect example of how America is
becoming even more fucked up. Here we have a new face of the Republican
party, a non-white, first generation American who is rabidly
conservative. I think the guy is fairly smart. I remember during
Hurricane Gustav being impressed when he was saying sweet nothing to
evacuees over the radio. But let's put his politics aside, we know
where he stands, we know his ability to bring folks together and
transform government, we know all that. But what effects will the
republicans newest weapon have on America?Jindal is a man who talks
like an American, walks like an American, even changed his name
to "Bobby" so he is more American. But he certainly doesn't look like
an American. Which perhaps is why he is so popular with the
Republicans, they like folks like that, who maybe look different then
the stereotypical American, but other than that are as American
as "baked turkey" or something like that. Perhaps thats the problem
with this new wave of politics, where the Democrats and Republicans
pick leaders whom seem drastically different then in the past but in
reality just look the part, they don't act like it. I suppose it is all
a small step though. But the change we should really applaud is one
where America's many cultures can be properly represented in the
political system and not have to face all odds to get to that point. So
in the meantime, those of us who come from previously left out and or
disenfranchised communities have to calm the fuck down. I understand
that all this change is exciting, but we need to constantly hold back
from simply voting in folks because we are so desperate for
representation. We need to focus on voting in people who will actually
be best prepared to tackle the issues we are facing. As for Gov. Jindal?
Well, let's just keep an eye on him for now.

[Live from New Orleans.] oscar winners leaked? [Feb. 22nd, 2009|07:04 pm]
So I'm sure many of you had heard about the blog that was created to
leak a supposed list of oscar winners. There is a good chance it was
fake. But with the oscars upon us I thought I'd post a few links to
copies of that list. Now you all can follow at home and see if it is
correct. Note they are all links to the same thing, just incase they
